As the Alberta Women's Independence Network (AWIN), we are expanding the political conversation to speak to women and what they care about. Our focus is on building community, fostering respectful dialogue, and sharing information that matters.
Since March 2025 we have been traveling across Alberta, engaging with both women and men about our role in Confederation, Canada's history, and the critical choices we must make as Albertans. Join us at our next event!

We believe that our best future will come with Alberta independence. We are registered as a Third Party Advertiser in the 2026 Alberta Referendum. Learn why we encourage you to vote for independence here.

We love to speak to women in small, informal gatherings where everyone's voice can be heard. There really is no better way to discuss the state of Alberta and the political structure of the Westminster System than over tea and sweets! Or wine and a charcuterie board! Or beer and chips! Or coffee and muffins! We help women arrange meetings at their homes, local coffee shops, and community town halls and have a great time talking about what matters to us in our shared future. Bringing women together with good friends and good food turns something intimidating (politics) into something surprisingly hopeful and educational.
Our focus has been on encouraging Albertan women to learn more about our role in Confederation, the systems we live under, and the important choices we need to make. If you'd like to host a meeting in your town, let us know!

Our short weekly newsletter is full of easy-to-share information about Alberta Independence!
Our 'Politics on the Patio' campaign introduced us to so many amazing Albertans!! Not only did we get to make new friends, we got to find out what YOUR thoughts are on these questions. So, it was time to make a new video and share with you what you have shared with us. We also explore the definition of a 'temporary foreign worker'.
An updated discussion on Question 2. (Spoiler alert... we haven't changed our minds as to how you should vote.)
Question 3, what is this really about? It's about how long someone should have to live here before qualifying for provincial social programs. And it isn't unreasonable.
Let's dive in!

Question 4 is about people who don't call Alberta home paying their way while here. There is nothing wrong with that. And Kathy has another suggestion as to what a solution could be in this video.
