Who We Are
Launched in 2025, the Alberta Women's Independence Network (AWIN) is led by Angela Tabak, Kathy Flett and a growing group of supporters.
In March 2025, Angela approached Kathy with an idea. What if we created a message about Alberta Independence created specifically for women? A message that is tailored to cover the facets of Independence that are important to us. Then we take that message across Alberta and share it with all who will host us. Skeptical at first, Kathy warmed up to the idea and the vision was cast.
It quickly became evident there was an appetite for these smaller meetings. As Albertans opened their homes and backyards to us, it was also evident there are no strangers in Alberta, just friends we haven't met yet. The meetings are tailored for women, but men are welcome as well. The guys who attended also enjoyed what we were sharing!
2026 Alberta Referendum
Registered as a Third Party Advertiser
Because we encourage Albertans to vote for independence in the October 2026 Alberta Referendum, we are registered as a Third Party Advertiser. This means we are allowed to take donations to advertise and promote our message.
We support voting yes on questions 1-9 and voting for option 2 on question 10. Learn more about the referendum and why we feel these options are the best for Alberta's future at our referendum page.
