Since March of 2025, we have been traveling across Alberta, engaging with both women and men about our role in Confederation, Canada's history, and the critical choices we must make as Albertans. Our focus has been on fostering an independence network that builds community through education and respectful dialogue, emphasizing messaging that speaks to women.
With the upcoming October 2026 Alberta Provincial Referendum, we have registered with Elections Alberta as a Third Party Advertiser under the name Alberta Women For Independence. Our goal is to continue providing Albertan women with the essential information they need to make informed and empowered decisions regarding the future of our beautiful province.

As we approach October 19, 2026 (referendum day), the need for solid information, respectful dialogue, and unity within our community of strong, educated women is imperative. Through our network, we aim to foster support for Alberta Independence and ultimately support for Albertan women and their families. With your help, we hope to spread the message of hope and Alberta Independence to every corner of the province. All donations are appreciated!
There will be 10 questions for you to vote on. Alberta Women for Independence, part of the independence network, encourages you to vote yes on questions 1-9 and choose Option B on question 10. In the coming weeks, we will be releasing videos that explain our reasoning for this encouragement, emphasizing our support for women and women's empowerment. The links will be shared here. As per Elections Alberta rules, we are required to list all of the questions on our website. Happy Reading! (*insert eye roll here*)
1) Do you support the Government of Alberta taking increased control over immigration for the purposes of decreasing immigration to more sustainable levels, prioritizing economic migration and giving Albertans first priority on new employment opportunities, thereby fostering an independence network that empowers local citizens?
2) Do you support the Government of Alberta introducing a law mandating that only Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and individuals with an Alberta-approved immigration status will be eligible for provincially-funded programs, such as health care, education, and other social services, ensuring support for women and families in need?
3) Assuming that all Canadian citizens and permanent residents continue to qualify for social support programs as they do now, do you support the Government of Alberta introducing a law requiring all individuals with a non-permanent legal immigration status to reside in Alberta for at least 12 months before qualifying for any provincially-funded social support programs, thus reinforcing women's empowerment in the community?
4) Assuming that all Canadian citizens and permanent residents continue to qualify for public health care and education as they do now, do you support the Government of Alberta charging a reasonable fee or premium to individuals with a non-permanent immigration status living in Alberta for their and their family’s use of the healthcare and education systems?
5) Do you support the Government of Alberta introducing a law requiring individuals to provide proof of citizenship, such as a passport, birth certificate, or citizenship card, to vote in an Alberta provincial election, ensuring that the voice of Albertans, especially women, is heard?
6) Do you support the Government of Alberta working with the governments of other willing provinces to amend the Canadian Constitution to have provincial governments, and not the federal government, select the justices appointed to provincial King’s Bench and Appeal courts?
7) Do you support the Government of Alberta working with the governments of other willing provinces to amend the Canadian Constitution to abolish the unelected federal Senate?
8) Do you support the Government of Alberta working with the governments of other willing provinces to amend the Canadian Constitution to allow provinces to opt out of federal programs that intrude on provincial jurisdiction, such as health care, education, and social services, without a province losing any of the associated federal funding for use in its social programs?
9) Do you support the Government of Alberta working with the governments of other willing provinces to amend the Canadian Constitution to better protect provincial rights from federal interference by giving a province’s laws dealing with provincial or shared areas of constitutional jurisdiction priority over federal laws when the province’s laws and federal laws conflict?
10) Should Alberta remain a province in Canada, or should the Government of Alberta commence the legal process required under the Canadian Constitution to hold a binding provincial referendum on whether or not Alberta should separate from Canada?
Option 1: Alberta should remain a province in Canada.
Option 2: The Government of Alberta should commence the legal process required under the Canadian Constitution to hold a binding provincial referendum on whether or not Alberta should separate from Canada.

Your contribution will enable us to continue our work of spreading the message of Alberta Independence! Donations (button found below) will be used to fund travel, lawn signs, t-shirts, and other promotional materials all with the goal of forwarding the Alberta Independence movement through education and community building, while also fostering an independence network that supports women and promotes women's empowerment.
Our focus has been on fostering an independence network that encourages Albertan women to learn more about our role in confederation, the systems we live under, and the important choices we need to make. This journey towards women's empowerment doesn't have to be an overwhelming task! At our meetings, we always engage in these discussions over dessert and a beverage. We come away feeling stronger, empowered, and part of a growing community that offers support for women. Below, we have links to several videos we've created that are posted on YouTube. These are easy ways to get informed and share with your friends.
Our short, weekly, newsletter is full of information about Alberta Independence you can share!

Doors will open at 6:30. Short presentation with discussion to follow will start at 7 pm. Light refreshments will be served.
